I respect a lot of people, I really do. I think that everyone is creative and capable of the most amazing things. Take this photo for instance. It’s simple, sure, but really look at it. It has natural vignetting. May not seem like much, but considering nearly 80% of iPhone owners have purchased an application to do this for them, I’d say it’s a lot more than “not much”. Look at the top of the Mercedes symbol. Notice that the white on it is a different shade than the blown out hood behind it? You can distinctively tell where the symbol ends and the hood starts. It’s things like that, those tiny details that show that this photographer really noticed how he was metering. Look at the buildings that are being reflected. They’re in enough detail that you know they’re not just random blobs, but that they are in fact an intended reflection. Now look at this post that I reblogged. Do you see a source of this photo? Do you see any form of credit given to the photographer behind this beautiful image? A click through link? A simple name? No. Nothing. It takes a lot to make a nice piece of art and takes only a minute to source your posts. Let this be a lesson. Photo via Troy Holden of CaliberSF.
